Social Features In The Blizzard Battle.Net Desktop App!

Holy crap. It finally happened. Blizzard has stepped into a new era, giving players what they’ve been asking for for the longest time. First we received a social Battle.Net mobile app about a week or so ago, and now we are getting all kinds of features for the Desktop Battle.Net Application!

Social Tab, Blizzard Groups, Profiles, Avatars, Appear Offline. Wasn’t appear offline announced in 2012? Or was it earlier? It’s been so long that I can’t even remember! Typical to Blizzard’s “Soon” statements, we receive it years later. To be expected, I would say.

To use the new features of the Desktop App, you need to open your app settings, click on the Beta tab, and then click switch to Beta Version. It’s that simple, and then you’ll see a gorgeous new tab called Social Tab, where you’ll find everything you need.

Blizzard Groups is just another word for Discord. Blizzard’s added their own version of the popular program, and it’s not half bad. For those who don’t use Discord, the Blizzard Groups option is a very good one to pursue. The Nameless made a group, though we do use Discord. I mean, why not?

Profiles are another neat feature. You can let your friends and whoever else might be creeping a little more about you. You can select an avatar, share what’s on your mind (Kind of like Facebook? o.o), add links for social media. A neat little feature that I think will help to bring the Blizzard community closer together.

So what are you waiting for? Get the Battle.Net Desktop Beta Application, and start playing around with it!
